Zurich/Geneva - Lucerne – St. Moritz – Glacier Express – Zermatt - Geneva/Zurich

This fantastic rail journey takes you from your entry city of either Geneva or Zurich, to Lucerne - the heart of Switzerland. You then travel to the world famous St. Moritz and from there the slowest fast train in the world – the Glacier Express – takes you all the way to Zermatt and the majestic Matterhorn, before returning to your chosen gateway city.

1st day:
Arrival in Zurich or Geneva by train 2nd class from the Swiss border or any Swiss airport. Overnight in Zurich or Geneva (your choice).

2nd day
Take the train to Lucerne. You will find everything here: a historical city, a lake, mountains, good shopping - a distinctiveblend of nature and work of man, which has been preserved and carefully developed for centuries. Overnight in Lucerne.

3rd day
Time at leisure in Lucerne. Due to its central location right on Lake Lucerne and the surrounding mountains such as the impressive Mount Pilatus, Mt. Rigi – Queen of the mountains, or Mount Titlis at 3020 m/10’000 ft high, Lucerne is considered to be the «Switzerland in Switzerland». We recommend you explore one of the mentioned mountains. Overnight in Lucerne.

4th day
Your journey continues by train to St. Moritz which is one of the most famous holiday resorts in the world and its name is synonymous with quality and elegance. Find out all that St Moritz is known for today, why its name is copyright protected, how it developed from its humble beginnings with pilgrims visiting its mineral sources until it became the modern centre for sports competitions and extravaganza as we know it today. Overnight in St Moritz.

5th day
Today you board the Glacier Express Premium which is one of the greatest train journeys in the world. You travel from St.Moritz to Zermatt. A 7 1/2 hour railway journey across 291 bridges, through 91 tunnels and across the Oberalp Pass at 2’033 metres in altitude. Travel in comfort through the unspoilt natural beauty of a landscape rich in ancient, fragrant mountain forests, peaceful Alpine meadows, rushing mountain streams and mountain valleys, soaked in tradition and centuries old culture. (Optional lunch – if required, please indicate when booking). Overnight in gorgeous Zermatt.
 
6th day
Explore Zermatt at the foot of the majestic Matterhorn. This alpine resort is a world without cars. Electric-taxis and horse-drawn sleighs and carriages are the only transport allowed.
Zermatt is surrounded by 38 four thousand metre high mountains. Explore the town at the foot of the mighty Matterhorn or perhaps enjoy one of our optional excursions to the Gornergrat, Matterhorn Glacier Paradise or Rothorn. Overnight in Zermatt.
  

7th day

The train takes you from Zermatt to either Geneva or Zurich. Both cities offer excellent shopping and a lot more. Overnight in Geneva or Zurich (your choice).

8th day
Return to Swiss border or airport or continue your stay in Switzerland at your own request.
